Located in Hixon-Lied Commons the library is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. In addition to 24/7 keycard access for self-checkout, the library also offers students:

Whether you need help using a library resource or just have a research question, the Library staff is ready to help. You can schedule an appointment or contact us directly with any questions.

College of Saint Mary students, faculty, and staff may borrow library materials including books (for 28 days) and DVDs and electronics (7 days) using their current College of Saint Mary ID.

Alumni & Community Members
Alumni and community members are eligible for borrowing privileges. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

If you are unable to find a book or journal article in the library’s collection, you can request this item to be borrowed from another library. Interlibrary loan allows the College of Saint Mary Library to borrow materials outside of our collections from other libraries on your behalf. Please allow 7 to 10 days processing time for articles and books. You will be notified of all incoming materials via email. Articles will be forwarded to you as email attachments. All other items will be available for pickup and return at the Library Circulation Desk.

To receive your interlibrary loan, you must have a CSM ID card registered with the library. If you are not registered, please contact [email protected]. Patrons requesting materials are responsible for returning materials by their due date and are responsible for cost of lost or damaged items.

  • Only College of Saint Mary students, faculty, staff, alumnae, and community users* may borrow materials.
    • *Community users are defined as members of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, students
      enrolled at Mercy High School, and students enrolled at another college in Nebraska.
  • In order to borrow an item, the patron must have a valid user account in the College of Saint Mary library circulation system.
  • Patrons cannot borrow reference books or individual issues of magazines, journals, and newspapers.
  • Only a member of the faculty may remove materials that are on reserve for a course from the library. They may only remove their own reserve materials unless explicitly granted permission from the reserving faculty member.
  • The loan period is determined by the item type and patron type.

  • A patron may renew borrowed materials no more than two times
  • After a two-renewal grace period, patrons with overdue items will be restricted to borrowing only materials that are on reserve for a course The patron is responsible for the repair or replacement cost of any item that is damaged, lost, or stolen while used outside of the library. Materials not returned within 50 days of the date due will be considered lost. A patron who loses an item will pay the replacement cost plus a $15 processing fee.
